About Us β€” Our Story

St. Joseph's Girls' Secondary School Maungu

St. Joseph's Girls' Secondary School Maungu is a Catholic non-profit making girls' school owned and managed by the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Archdiocese of Mombasa. The Sisters of St. Joseph, a local women's religious institute founded in 1929 and officially recognized in 1938, have a rich tradition of service in education, healthcare, catechesis, and social outreach.

The congregation founded the school with the aim of offering quality education and holistic moral formation to girls from the region and beyond, empowering them with skills, values, and knowledge necessary to build a better society.

The school began in January 2011 in Bura Mission, near the famous Bura Girls National School, and in May 2011 it was relocated to Maungu after the construction of classrooms, a sisters' convent, and a students' dormitory by a Spanish organization named Manos Unidas.

Today, the school has steadily grown and boasts modern facilities, continuing to pursue excellence in education and holistic development under dedicated leadership.
