Mother Teresa Primary & Junior School is owned and managed by the Sisters of St. Joseph under the Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa. It is located at Bura Mission, Mwatate Sub-County, Taita Taveta County.
The school officially opened on 3rd January 2011 under Sr. Teresia Mutio, starting with six pupils and two teachers: Sr. Stella Mumbua and Teacher Faith.
Together, they formed the pioneer team alongside a cook and a cleaner. The school was established with support from the Hermann Marx Foundation to serve orphaned children, in memory of Adelheid Rosenbaum.
From humble beginnings, the school has grown to 171 learners, supported by 11 teaching and 5 non-teaching staff.
Following approval on 30th January 2023, the school expanded to offer Junior Secondary education.
A major milestone was achieved in 2025, where 10 learners joined National Schools (C1) and 5 joined Extra-County Schools (C2).
